展覧会概要

絵画体シリーズ《森の中の崇高なるもの》は、2025年から2026年にかけて制作された、油彩と亜麻布による作品群です。ここでいう「絵画体」とは、単なる平面としての絵画ではなく、支持体と絵画表面が不可分に結びついた、オブジェ的な存在状態を指します。この概念は、福井の恩師でありハンガリーの画家・教育者である Tölg-Molnar Zoltán（テルグ＝モルナール・ゾルターン）によって提唱・実践されたものであり、福井はその思想を踏まえながら独自の展開を試みています。厚みを持つ支持体や刻まれるような筆致、静けさを含んだ色面は、森の奥に潜む気配や自然と身体との関係性を想起させ、絵画をひとつの存在として感じさせます。

墨シリーズは、2026年に制作された、日本の墨とドイツの紙による作品群です。これらは絵画と素描のあわいに位置し、線描、ぼかし、掠れ、圧描、垂れ流しなど多様な技法を通じて構成されています。紙に染み込み、滲み、時に断絶しながら現れる線や黒の痕跡には、強さと儚さ、緊張と静寂、瞬間性と永続性といった感覚が重なります。また、水平性や垂直性、ふくらみや間合いといった要素が繊細な均衡を保ちながら配置されることで、空間性や身体感覚を伴った表現が立ち現れています。

本展では、「絵画体」と「墨」という二つの実践を通して、福井祐介が継続して向き合ってきた、素材、身体、空間、そして絵画の在り方についての思考の一端をご覧いただけます。

Exhibition Overview

The “Painting Body” series The Sublime in the Forest consists of works made with oil paint and linen between 2025 and 2026. The term “Painting Body” refers not simply to painting as a flat surface, but to a state in which the support and the painted surface are inseparably integrated, giving the work an object-like presence. This concept was proposed and practiced by Fukui’s mentor, the Hungarian painter and educator Tölg-Molnar Zoltán (Tölg-Molnár Zoltán), and Fukui develops his own interpretation while drawing from this idea. The thick supports, incised brushwork, and quiet fields of color evoke the hidden atmosphere of the forest and the relationship between nature and the body, allowing the paintings to be perceived as physical presences.

The “Sumi” Series consists of works created in 2026 using Japanese ink and German paper. Positioned somewhere between painting and drawing, these works are composed through a variety of techniques including line drawing, blurring, abrasion, pressure marks, and dripping. The traces of black and lines that soak into, spread across, and at times break apart on the paper contain overlapping sensations of strength and fragility, tension and stillness, immediacy and permanence. Elements such as horizontality, verticality, volume, and intervals are delicately balanced within the compositions, giving rise to expressions accompanied by a sense of space and bodily awareness.

Through these two practices — “Painting Body” and “Ink” — the exhibition presents one aspect of Yusuke Fukui’s ongoing exploration of material, body, space, and the possibilities of painting.
