大貫敏之（Toshi Onuki）は、 カリフォルニアと東京を拠点に活動するインスタレーション・アーティストです。
サンフランシスコ・アート・インスティテュートにてニュー・ジャンル（New Genre）を専攻し、美術学士号（BFA）を取得。
社会的なテーマを鋭く捉えながら、日常のオブジェや文化的シンボル、建築空間をモチーフとしたサイトスペシフィックなインスタレーションや大規模な彫刻作品を制作している。その作品は、日常の経験や身近な物を新たな文脈の中で再構成し、予期せぬ意味や関係性を立ち上げていく。
展覧会概要：「半透性の境界(Semipermeable Boundaries)」
当たり前に通り抜けるはずのドア。公平に競い合うはずのゴール。理想を描いたはずの五輪の輪。わかりやすく導くはずのサイン。だが、それらは本当に私たちを導いているのか？あるいは、目に見えない「構造」こそが私たちの行動や思考を制限してはいないか。この展示は、「わかっているつもり」の構造物を、もう一度根本から問い直す試みである。機能しているように見える社会の中で、私たちは何を見落とし、何に従い、どこに立っているのだろうか。

Toshi Onuki is a California and Tokyo-based installation artist. He received his BFA in New Genre from San Francisco Art Institute.
Frequently addressing topical social issues, he creates site-specific installations and large-scale sculptures that examine everyday objects, cultural symbols, and architectural spaces. His work reconfigures daily experiences and objects into something new and unexpected.
Exhibition Overview: “Semipermeable Boundaries”
A door we are meant to pass through without question. A goal where fairness is supposed to prevail. The Olympic rings, once symbols of ideals. A sign meant to guide us clearly.
But do these things truly lead us? Or is it the invisible structures behind them that both shape and limit our actions and thoughts?
This exhibition seeks to question, at the most fundamental level, the frameworks we think we understand.
